Project Summary
A complete custom active 3-way car audio system installation for a 2024 Porsche 911 Carrera S. Engineered to replace the lifeless factory Bose setup with studio-grade staging, effortless dynamic range, and stealth OEM appearance.
1. The Vehicle & OEM Challenge
The owner of this 2024 Porsche 911 Carrera S was disappointed by the factory Bose system. The OEM door woofers produced bloated, boomy midbass, while the dash tweeters sounded harsh and compressed at highway speeds. Furthermore, the Porsche 992 cabin exhibits significant aluminum panel resonance and tire noise from wide 305mm rear tires. The client requested an audiophile-grade upgrade with zero alteration to the factory leather interior trim and full integration with the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) touchscreen.
2. Custom Engineering & System Design
Our Master Technicians designed an active 3-way component front stage powered by an Audison Forza 8-channel DSP amplifier. We selected Hertz Mille Pro MPK 163.3 PRO drivers, featuring press-paper cones and Boundary Free Surround technology for linear excursion. To eliminate road noise and cabin panel vibration, we fully lined both inner and outer door cavities with SoundSkins Pro 3-in-1 butyl dampening material. The Audison DSP was calibrated using 31-band parametric equalization and acoustic time alignment measured directly at the driver's head position.
3. Step-by-Step Technical Installation Breakdown
1. OEM Signal Extraction & Fiber Integration
Using an iDatalink Maestro vehicle interface, we tapped directly into the Porsche 992 CAN-bus network to extract clean, uncompressed multi-channel audio signals. This completely bypassed the internal EQ curves applied by the factory Bose amplifier, providing a flat 20Hz-20kHz input signal to our Audison DSP processor.
2. Custom Door Fabrication & Acoustic Damping
We fabricated custom HD-polyethylene speaker mounting adapter rings for the 6.5-inch Hertz Mille Pro woofers, securing them to the aluminum door frames with stainless steel fasteners and foam isolator rings. SoundSkins Pro butyl rubber and aluminum acoustic dampening sheets were applied across the outer door skin and inner skeleton, dropping interior cabin noise by 4.2 dB at 65 MPH.
3. Stealth Amplifier Rack Installation
The Audison AF M8.14 bit 8-channel amplifier was mounted on a custom laser-cut aluminum bracket hidden underneath the passenger footwell panel. Oxygen-Free Copper (OFC) 4-gauge power wiring was routed directly to the AGM battery with inline gold-plated ANL fusing for ultimate reliability.
4. Real-Time Acoustic Calibration (RTA & DSP Tuning)
Utilizing calibrated measurement microphones, our certified sound engineers performed 64-band RTA analysis to adjust delay timings down to 0.02 milliseconds per channel. This created an expansive front soundstage where vocals float directly in the center of the windshield, precisely aligned with the driver's listening line.
4. Real-Time Calibration & Post-Installation Results
Post-tune measurement confirmed a flat frequency response from 28Hz to 22kHz with absolute zero distortion at high volume levels. Vocal separation, acoustic depth, and midbass punch are night-and-day compared to stock, while preserving 100% of the factory Porsche PCM features and interior aesthetics.

Installation FAQs for This Project
Were any interior panels or dashboard parts modified during this Porsche 911 install?
No. All speaker upgrade components were installed using custom 3D-laser cut mounting brackets behind factory speaker grilles, ensuring zero modification to original Porsche upholstery.
